Dear Antoinette,

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the St. Ambrose Reunion DVD! It is wonderful. I have looked at it several times and renewed my happiness with the entire affair. Congratulations on a superb job. You can’t get high schools to come together in such large numbers. With your work—and St. Ambrose being such a special place—it was a huge success.

Thank you for thinking of me in June and now. God Bless!

Sister Margaret (St. Benedict)

Dear Antoinette,

Thank you so very much for your kindness. It was wonderful to receive the DVD of our reunion. It was splendid and keeps our memories of St. Ambrose alive. Thank you.

Dear Antoinette,

I have just finished viewing the reunion CD and I wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much I enjoyed watching it. It was wonderful to relive that wonderful weekend.

You and all of the committee members deserve a well earned thank you for the wonderful job you all did in putting together a weekend that I will remember for many years to come and for this memory I now have. The whole weekend was well planned and very well organized. For me, one of the highlights was the trip back to the school.

Perhaps, sometime in the future, we can all get together again, and perhaps meet new as well as old friends. Again many thanks for your fantastic effort to make this such a wonderful memory.

Yours truly,

Ralph Mercorella

Dear Friends,

As the year comes to an end, we often have the tendency of looking back and reviewing the highlights. This year our great “reunion” would certainly be at the top of the list. It was an event that will long be remembered in a loving and happy way.

I enjoyed all that lead up to it, the three days of celebrating and the wonderfully joyful and grateful feeling it left in my heart.

Sister Margaret Brosile and myself were so delighted to see so many of you and to rejoice with you as you recounted what you’ve been doing “all these years”. Yes, we were very proud to have been part of your lives and really delighted to have had the opportunity of being part of the celebration.

Special thanks to all who made “the” reunion the wonderful reality it was; you created a magnificent memory and we are all very grateful! Happy Christmas to all! May the season be rich in many blessings for each of you and for your family and loved ones. Happy 2008!

Love,

Sister Maureen

Reunion Committee, I received my DVD about a week ago and finally saw it on Thanksgiving Day at my daughter's. My family watched with me and were so impressed with the whole account of our reunion. Thank you so much for all your hard work and the many hours you spent to share this event with all of us. God bless you all and your families. I am sending my copy to my brother, Armand Gagne to view it. When he returns it, I promised to send it to Patricia Heiser in Florida. She is anxious to see it too. Wishing everyone a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year.

Love and gratitude, Mary Gagne Monte Class of 1948

9/11/07

First of all I would like to thank the lord for letting write these few words today and also thanking my best friend and schoolmate Jeannette Ramos (I love you always baby) for finding me at my mom’s. Anyway I’m very happy to see the old neighborhood still kicking and believe me I’m a proud Rican today to go back to my roots in Bed-STY Brooklyn. As of myself doing good here in Puerto Rico and also working as a communication analyst for EVERTEC and has a hobby transmitting music on the internet at the following site: STICKAM.COM just register and after doing so go in the SEARCH BOX and type the following: DJ_G and you’ll see a couple of people with the same name but you can’t miss me at my profile because of the age which is 49 and hit and top of my profile and become a friend. The reason for this is that I’m reorganizing my studio and will be back transmitting again in two months. So join in and the program is live with audio and video and I will take you back for oldies and music of the 70’s from our time in the hood. My e-mail address is: GPEREZ@EVERTECINC.COM and my phone is 787-553-6130 also job number 787-759-9999 ext.3692 or 2588. Also may 152 Pulaski Street live for ever the building is still there and kicking.

Love u all,

Just a few lines to tell you to personally thank Ramon, Lillian, Angelo, Adele, yourself etc... for the terrific job in organizing the Reunion. It must have taken a lot of work and it was so well done. The most emotional part was re-visiting the school. What wonderful memories. Those were the best years of my life. I always thought of returning to just look inside the school and finally it happened. Living around the corner at 185osciusko Street was also great and Lillian and I went that day just to see it again. Please include us in any future events regarding St. Ambrose, and again Kudos for a job well done to all those who put it together.

Bye, Lydia Diaz

7/20/07

Laura Irrizary where are you? The class of 1966 wants to hear from you but we don’t have your e-mail address. Please write. My E-mail address is vgoeings@aol.com

7/10/07

Congrats to the reunion committee on a job well done. To all St. Ambrose School alumni hope you all had a great and memorable time at the reunion. Seeing old friends and schoolmates made that weekend one of the best of my life. Some of us aged gracefully and some look like time has stood still. This reunion came at a time in my life when I needed to big lift.

May God continue to bless all of St. Ambrose School alumni.

Robert Gomez, class of 61

7/6/07

Ma ny thanks to all to all who made the StAmbrose Reunion such a wonderful success. You made two gentlemen, Eugene McCarthy and Dr Frank Pomilla Class of 1941 very happy. You honored them with a standing ovation. We had a great time and it was so good to see so many attend. We thank all of you for such a memorable evening.

Thank you Carol McCarthy '55 and Rosremary McCarthy D'Alessandro '49

6/30/07

I can't thank the Class of '61 enough for the hard work, time, and effort that went into this hugh undertaking. Everything was done to perfection - from the gathering on Fri night to the bus trip and then the dinner/dance Sat night. The new graduation book and pen was a very unique remembrance of the reunion. I shall treasure it as I do my original one.

Bringing together all the different classes was one big happy family reunion. Whether you knew the people from other classes or not there was a special kinship from being a part of the St. Ambrose family. Seeing the people from my class of Jan'57 was like being a kid again. Anthony, Tommy, Ray, Sal, Frank C and Robert -you were good kids and my prior memories of you were all very fond. Add to that - that you are all very fine men, funny and filled with great stories, really good people and great company. I can say that I am very proud of you all and am glad I was a part of your lives. And oh, those girls - Pat, Lu, Minnie, Margaret, Rosie, May, Barbara, Ethel and the others I knew that were there - there are no words to describe the renewal of such warm and loving friendships. It warms my heart just thinking of you guys and girls. Seeing and talking with Sisters St Hugh and St Benedict was an event in itself. Talking of old times and "what happened to Sister So and So" was unbelievable. The nuns that are no longer with us, were with us that weekend in our memories. We received the best education, moral teachings and love from the sisters. They will never know the real extent of how they shaped our lives, and were a big part of who we are today.

I truly hope that we keep in touch - an e-mail here and there - to not lose these friends after finding each other again after 50 years!!!!! After marriage, having children and grandchildren, this reunion and meeting up with old friends was truly a gift and an unforgettable event.

Thanks again to all who made it possible.

THANK YOU to the class of 1961 for a most memorable reunion weekend. It was a pleasure to see my former classmates and some of the Sisters who taught us. Money could not buy the experience of reconnecting with friends. Many thanks also to the staff at Mt. Pisgah for their hospitality towards us.

1966'ers Rosalyn, Lydia, Valerie, Mellida, Estacy, Deborah, Sonia, Vinnie, Jackie: you haven't changed one bit! Let's not lose one another again. Let's also continue to look for our other classmates. Paraphrasing something Deborah said: 'we are still those hopeful children'.

Much love to all,

TO THE CLASS OF 61 ALL YOUR HARD WORK CAN NOT EXPRESS THE JOY LOVE AND HAPPINESS YOU HAVE BROUGHT TO SO MANY OLD AND WONDERFUL FRIENDS. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR ALL OF YOU THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. IT WAS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY TO GO BACK IN TIME TO OUR OLD SCHOOL AND NEIGHBORHOOD AND SEE WHERE OUR ROOTS ALL STARTED AND I AM SO GREATFUL I HAD THAT OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THEM WITH ALL OF YOU.PERHAPS THE HIGH-LITE OF THE REUNION TO ME WAS TO SEE ONCE AGAIN TWO VERY SPECIAL SISTERS WHO WAS A VERY BIG PART OF MY LIFE SISTER ST HUGH AND SISTER ST BENEDICT WHOM I TRULY ADMIRE AND LOVE FOR ALL THERE TEACHING AND CAREING THROUGHOUT MY SCHOOL YEARS.AND TO ALL OF THE WONDERFUL SISTERS OF ST AMBROSE WHO ARE NO LONGER WITH US BUT WILL ALWAYS REMAIN IN PRAYERS THOUGHTS AND MEMORIES. WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS THE JOY I FELT THIS WEEKEND SEEING THE SAS ALUMNAE. THE ENTIRE WEEKEND WAS A TRUE BLESSING. I ENJOYED SEEING ALL OF MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CLASSMATES AND I AM HAPPY TO SAY WE LOOK GOOD! THE TRIP TO ST. AMBROSE BROUGHT BACK MANY GOOD MEMORIES. WALKING THROUGH THE HALLS GAVE ME CHILLS. I ENJOYED WRITING ON THE BLACKBOARDS, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT DIDN'T HAVE TO WRITE "I WILL NOT TALK IN CLASS." SATURDAY EVENING WAS SO GREAT THAT EVEN MY HUSBAND WOKE UP SUNDAY MORNING EAGER TO SEE YOU GUYS AGAIN.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT REUNION!

STEPHANIE BROWN WELDON

6/25/07

To the Class of '61 words can't express what most alumni is feeling about this great get-together. It was more than I think anyone could imagine. It truly was a "once in a lifetime opportunity and event." Old friendships have been renewed and will continue to flourish because of this reunion. I hope you realize that the time & effort put in by the committee is truly appreciated. We had the perfect weather, everything went along smoothly and you took care of little details that otherwise would have been overlooked. Once again, my personal thanks to you for all that you have done.

To the class of 1961:

THE ENTIRE EVENT WAS MAGNIFICENT. I'm from the class of 1966 and we all had a wonderful time. The class of 1961 are truly commended for all their hard work. I had the opportunity to reunite with friends that I have not seen or talk to in "over 40 years". Deborah Lewis, it was a dream come true to just see and talk to you again. I will not loose touch with you again. You are no longer a single child, you are also my sister. Monica, you are still the peaceful, angelic princess you have always been and I love you for that. To the other VG in the class of '66, Vincent Grosso - wonderful seeing you again. Lorie Irrizary - it was good hearing your voice on the phone (while you were driving on the road in Puerto Rico). I did not get your e-mail correct. Please E-mail me so I can send you over 40 pictures from the event. Not to omit, Estacy, Roslyn, Sonia & Lydia, I truly love you guys and we will stay in contact with one another.

And to the person that taught me the meaning of unconditional friendship - Melida Yearwood - We talk 4 times everyday since we graduated in 1966. We can choose our friends but we cannot choose our family. I choose you as family and I am blessed for having you as my dear sister for life. And to think that our friendship started out with a fist fight in the closet in Sister Magdalyn class. (smile). (by the way, there could never be a winner in a fight - when you fight the one you love) That fight taught me that you never know who will be there for you - so you should always t reat others with respect. My class told me that I was the class "bully". To all those who I ever bullied (which I know I didn't) I beg your forgiveness. I have GOD in my heart now and HE & I are comfortable with HIS presence in my life. Please accept my apologies.

All of us being together was a dream come true. My sister, Sandy Goeings-George and my cousin, Gilda Gholston-Moore enjoyed themselves and that meant something good to me. I wish my sister Carol Goeings-Stricklin could have been there. We talked to her on the phone in Alaska. She will call Julia and catch up (her sister from their school days). My husband, Jerome Rock met up with Adele and Margaret Johnson - who he went to High School with. He had an opportunity to see the part of my life that helped to make me the person that I am today - the person that he love.

WOW, Sr. St. Hugh. You helped many parents (& single parents) raise us to what we are today. She helped to keep many of us in line. If there were teachers and disciplinarians like her in our schools today - the kids would have more respect and the boys would gladly pull their pants up. We have to pray hard for our future leaders. The Sister St. Hugh is not in the schools today. Remember, your not allowed to discipline children today - discipline is now called child abuse. That's why they have police stationed in our schools.

Sr. St. Benedict. I recall my sister Carol (who taught at Fashion Institute) making my yellow dress to sing at the World's Fair. I remember singing "I left my heart in San Francisco". thanks for the memories.

Again, thank you to the class of 1961. If you guys ever think about doing a second job - you should really think about "Event Planning"! If you do, please keep Melida Yearwood in mind - she is a very talented and exceptional, creative, gourmet caterer!!!!

God bless to all of you who were able to attend and to those who could not be there.

Valerie Goeings-Rock

6/21/07

It truly was amazing to see all those who shared wonderful memories of St. Ambrose. I was a transplant from public school and entered the seventh grade with Sister Maureen Corde as my teacher.

Delightful memories of hot dog days, movies, working on the Ambrosian, the Eucharistic Crusaders with Sister Loyola Marie, and during that eighth grade, sitting in the main office when Sister Francis Xavier, the principal, was not available. I remember dearly Paulette Barnes, Lorelei Bishop, and others who shared those precious moments.

Thanks Steven Koczak for sharing this website with me.

Sorry that I won't be able to attend the reunion. Blessings on all.

Thanks Class of 61 for putting this all together. I’m the little brother of Selma and Sonia and Jilma Saddler class of 61, 66 Guillermo “Tony Saddler.” I graduated in 1969 along with Wally Sandoval, Lydia Barnes, John Plantada, Gilbert Santiago and Rafael Ramos. The memories seem remarkably clear to me as well when I hear the Burger Flame mentioned in the many posts here. I currently reside in Phoenix Arizona and will be attending the reunion. I hope I’m not the only graduate of 1969 in attendance and would enjoy hearing from anyone in my class who is or isn’t attending.

I’m very excited and anxious to see and hear from many of you again. If anyone would like to contact me you can do so by e-mail: knotyboy1@juno.com or 480-633-1321.

Thank you to the class of '61 for putting all this together. The memories keep flooding in everytime I read something about the Burger Flame, or the hot dog sales. I am a bit disappointed that I do not see many names from my class. My name is Wally Sandoval from the class of 1969. I remember Lydia Barnes - we cannot be the only ones out there. I will be sending in our class photo and some others as soon as I can dig up the box. We lived at 721 Dekalb and my grandmaother lived at 669 Marcy. I believe that Gilbert Santiago and Rafael Ramos were in my class. I am in contact with Jose Irrizary, John Plantada, and a few others. I know Midred Ortiz still lives in the neighborhood. Several of us met at Fr. Kenna's funeral last year. I hope to make the reunion, but if not, please email me at waldemar.sandoval@stpaultheapostle.org or call 718-702-3193. I would love to hear from you.

Peace, Wally

Hi Toa Everyone,

My name is Gilda Gholston Moore, I am excited about what the class of 61 is doing. I have often wondered what happen to the people @ St. Ambrose. I remember the Nuns coming out into the school yard ringing the bell and we would stop dead in our tracks. The Friday night movies and the hotdog, bom-boms sales were the best. I have been gone from New York for over 30 years. and I am looking forward to the Reunion.

Does anyone remembers me.? I left St. Ambrose I believe in 1961. The more I looked @ the pictures the more I would remember the faces. I am looking for A. George, Barbara Macchia, Stephanie Goodridge, and Veronica Wilkes and a host of others.

Please contact me@ moorethanblessed@msn.com

Greetings to all Ambrosians,

Before I forget, thank you to the class of ’61 for initiating this “All Class Reunion”. I truly enjoyed reading all the messages posted on the message board. Many of you have tremendous ties to St. Ambrose that span many years. I only had 3 wonderful and memorable years from the 6th to the 8th grade. I remember Sister St. Benedict, Sister Loretta Edward, and that VERY special Sister St. Hugh. Correction, ALL the Sisters were special. I remember serving several masses at very early hours in the convent. Who can forget the meatless Fridays, which made the knishes at Burger Flame tasted really delicious? How about the Melodica concerts. How about writing the nutshells several times (a form of corporal punishment). It was a good exercise in improving your penmanship.

Of course for the guys, playing handball, stickball, punchball, and Chinese handball (booties up!). The many crushes that formed but we’re too young and too shy to pursue. There were a lot of good looking gals, Marian Santiago, Susan Gonzalez, Phoebe McGraw just to name a few from my class of ’63, Lorelie (Lolly) Bishop ’62, and Lillian Diaz ’64.

I’m sure we all look differently now but I was very much surprised at seeing my sister’s classmates from the class of ’61. Yes, they’re a bit older but almost all kept features that made them recognizable. Jonathan Verdun was my idol, golf caddying during those years. German Gonzalez has been and will always be a very close friend. James Trapasso and I had a good time reminiscing

Anyone who wish to email me please use eagle682@hotmail,com.

Occasionally, I check the Orlando Sentinel for high school reunion notices. Otherwise, I would never have known about this wonderful website. I don't know if anyone in the class of '57 will remember me, Carole Iafrate (Scala), because I moved in 7th grade; in fact, my sister Linda also attended St. Ambrose; she was two years behind me. Nevertheless, I think we all share a common bond, having attended a school whose dedicated faculty provided us with a sound education in academics and ethics. I remember Sr. Hugh, Sister Rosair (?), Sister Peter Celestine, Ms. Grant, and Ms. O'Connor who later joined the cloisters (that was difficulty for me to understand at the time!). I remember the Friday afternoon movies and the hot days in our crowded classes. I also remember the wonderful convent where I learned to play the piano and where I would practice because, of course, our apartment at 724 DeKalb Avenue certainly couldn't house a piano, even if we could afford it! How about lining up in the school yard and marching to class while the Italinan National Anthem (I think) blared across the courtyard? I often wondered if the neighbors minded that ritual. I always credit the Sisters of St. Joseph for my love of literature; they also taught English at Bishop McDonnell where I attended high school. I presently teach English and am the English Department Chair at Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, Florida, and I live in St. Cloud. If you would like to chat, please E-mail me at cscala@cfl.rr.com; I would enjoy hearing from you.

Hi again,

This message has a two fold purpose. First of all, I just read the message from Rosina (Maffeo) Trapasso. I am curious. Your last name is Trapasso. My name is James Trapasso. I graduated in 1963 and my brother in 1961. What is your husbands name and is he related in some way. Haven't heard of anyone of my relatives marrying Rosina. Could be a distant relative or something. Next. This is for Billy Askin. Read your message and saw that you live in Southern California. Your phone number begins with the area code 760. Just curious as to where you live. I live in Escondido. Small world Isn't it. If you wish to contact me, my # is 760-746-7542 and my E-mail is oltrap@sbcglobal.net.

Hi one & all. I'm Dominic Cammarano,(aka Junior) class of 1958(?) My sister, Fran Cammarano(O'Connor)emailed St. Ambrose and mentioned my late sister, Toni but failed to mention her brother(s)!! We Lived at 738 DeKalb Ave. The side of my building was attached to the schoolyard and we spent many years playing stickball, dodge ball, ring-o-livio(?),handball and generally having a ball. Our class picture is in the 1950-1955 group class 4a. Looking at that photo I recall Alfred(Anthony?) Pennachia, Augie Pisano, John Murtha, Richard Ingenito, Marie Daddio, Carl Amendolara, Robert Maher, Elliot Johnson,Trevor(?)(pardon any misspellings) and others whose photos are so familiar, the names I would recognize if I heard them. I attended 1st -7th grade before my family moved in 1957. My neighborhood buddies also included Roger Smith, Junior Jones, & Vinnie Calderone. We were close friends with the Smith and Carujo families, who also lived on first floor of my building at 738 DeKalb Ave. I was an Altar Boy, and was in the choir. I served mass with Fr. Dempsey, who married me in 1967. I now live in West Babylon, LI, with my wonderful wife of almost 40yrs, Dorothy. I noticed Billy Askins email of 4/17/07-your name is very familar-but I can't pick out your photo- I actually had my first crush on Marie Daddio, and as you said in your email, I've always remembered her! My email address is domdoll@aol.com. Looking forward to the reunion God Bless you all.

Hello to all my childhood friends,

How cool it was to see all your familiar faces and school pictures, who would have thought our paths would cross again. I'm sure we all look pretty much the same as we did back then. It will be great to see Sister Saint Hugh will be there, I still owe her some homework, I haven't done it yet but I have a whole set of new excuses. Reading your messages has been fascinating, be serious Marie Daddio how could anyone forget you! Unfortunately I only see two guys from our class (58) where are the rest of you: Robert Maher , Lorenzo Benenati, Mary Brozon Marie Daddio , Barbara Miranda and all the folks I didn't mention but thought about. Lets party !!! I have lived in California for the last 41 years, no Ambrosians here. I make about two trips East each year to see my mom and sister who live in Rockville Centre. I am planning to be in NY about four days before, attend the reunion and leave early the next morning.

If any of you would like to contact me in sunny California, I can be reached at: bilaskin@msn.com, or 760-872-4265 See you soon.

Bil (Billy) Askin

To all who remember,

Just got through talking to my classmate and friend James Soria. We were talking about how much we can remember from the past. Most of the messages I have read and what James I talked about was of the neighborhood ( the Flame, Kismet, etc.). After hanging up, I went back into my memory. How many remember? The boys playing handball on the back wall, the boys in the corner singing the tunes of the day, the girls jumping rope and playing hopscotch, boys and girls getting together in groups discussing whom they like and romances. The bell to signal the start of the school day, when everyone froze in their tracks and getting ready to line up. Remembering that you couldn't wait to get into the 8th grade to become a hall monitor or a crossing guard. Remember the Friday movies? Waiting to get into the 8th grade so you can sit in the balcony. The yearly Bazaar when we got out of class on Friday to spend our money on the games. The Christmas and Spring recitals. These are just a few things I can remember for now. But the biggest memory of all was the friendships I left with. James Trapasso '63

Hello Fellow Ambrosans,

Our school reunion will occur three months from today and we are hoping that you are as excited as we are.

For those of you who don't know, because of the overwhelming response to our reunion, we have extended the registration date to May 1, 2007 so you still have time to register for both the reunion and the bus trip to St. Ambrose.

Next month we will be asking you to RSVP to Friday's hospitality so that we can plan accordingly.

For those of you traveling from around the country check out Spirit Airlines and JetBlue. They have been running specials for the last couple of weeks. You might also consider group airfares if several of you are traveling from the same place.

If you and your classmates have gotten together over the last several months and have taken pictures, please send your pictures to Raymond Cruz at SAS6163@hotmail.com.

The Planning Committee is looking forward to seeing you on June 23, 2007.

Adele.

02/08/07 Hi, to the Class of '57,

I've been in touch with Margaret Sanchez, Fran Cammarano, Minerva Rosa and Lucrecia Hernandez and recently got together with Margaret, Fran and Minnie for lunch.

It's been wonderful being back in touch after all these years and it has brought back some great memories.

Margaret has been so enthusiastic about trying to locate people and seems to have been pretty successful. I know she's enjoyed speaking to everyone and has updated me several times. It's a lot to absorb and it seems so unreal that after 50 years we would all find each other again. It's been amazing to see all the pictures on this site and reading all of the messages makes me feel as if no time has passed at all since we graduated.

I'll be attending the reunion and hope to see all of you.

My work e-mail is pyurko@cravath.com and my home e-mail is pmy1313@aol.com. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me.

Pat Yurko

02/02/07 Hi to everyone!

I saw the current pictures and remember Migdalia Torres (I believe you have a brother named
Carlos who I had a crush on), and Angelo Reyes who has a brother named Bobby Reyes.
Bobby was a part of a large group of Sunday School Teachers at St. Ambrose and we hung
out a lot.

I believe that Adele Johnson is the sister of Monica Johnson who was with me in all the
classes up to graduation in 1966 and in the Choir also.

If anyone wishes to respond, I am at diazridgewood@aol.com.

Hope to see you soon.

Lydia Diaz

02/02/07 Hi Glenn!

I don't know if you remember me, we shared classes and graduated in 1966. Hope to
see you at the reunion.

Margaret Sanchez tells me you are coming to the reunion. I think it will be a lot of fun. The last time I saw you was at my Senior Prom in 1960. I understand you now live in Florida. Where abouts?

I hope all of our classmates (Class of 1957) come to the reunion.

If anyone isn't sure, I hope they will contact me at 877-248-4080 or email me at tbb@americorp.biz, so I can talk them into it!

Hi - My name is Margaret Rodriguez (Margie) I graduated in 1953 and was delighted to see there is going to be a class reunion. I will be forwarding the graduation picture so that it can be added to all the other photos.

I plan to attend the reunion and hopefully there will be some of my fellow classmates attending.

12/27/06 Hi Everyone!
What a wonderful website. My name is Monica (Johnson) Cash, from St. Ambrose class of 1966. The photos of our school, church and our old neighborhood (including the Marcy projects) are priceless.

Deborah Moody (Lewis) - glad to hear from you! I can't wait to see Estacy Conquet (and her sister) and Celeste Demby. Anybody know what happened to Dorothy Samuels (and her sister)? Also John Eng, my honor roll nemesis (and MAJOR secret crush), where are you? Joyce Scanterberry where are you? Also, Lydia Diaz (who sang so beautifully in our Christmas extravanza), and Milta Orozco. Cousins Gilda Hall and Robin Hicks, you are both sorely missed. Also missed are cousins Rokio Samat and Nowahida Mat, and cousins Laura and Jose Irrizarry.

And of course, I miss all of the boys who would walk home with the girls, and give us grief all the way. Hi Danny McCullough! Also missed are Emory Lockhart, Barry Herndon, Glen Bouldin and Anthony Foster (always the gentleman).

The best memories are of the choir and piano lessons (thank you Sister St. Benedict) and practicing like crazy for Midnight Mass, the spring and winter concerts, singing at the hospitals and in competition at Walt Whitman (any chance we can reorganize old choir members for the reunion?). Our family can still break out singing in harmony at the drop of a note, (I didn't say we sound great - just fond memories and major fun).

Thanks to my big sister Adele and her class for jump starting our school reunion.

Best contact for me is via email at mjtlc1@aol.com. Love to hear from anyone! God willing, I will see you all in June at the reunion. Monica

My name is Linda Di Gennaro and I would love to hear from anyone that remembers me. My email is dfrascie@twcny.rr.com and my home number is 315-339-4759. I just spoke with Diane Beneduce and Margie Pisano and it was wonderful.

Hope to hear from you.

12/01/06 Ray,
Thanks for posting the maps on the web site. The site continues to look better every time I open it. You might consider noting that the maps were done in 1929 and are not current. Notice the two story frame building on the western end of the SAS school yard. This building did not exist when we attended SAS. I wonder if this is the building that the first St. Ambrose Church mass was celebrated in? Could it be the building that is pictured on one of the pages that Sister Maureen provided?
Once again thank you all for your work on the web site. It's Great. I enjoy it very much.

Victor

11/27/06 Hi,

I'm Fran(ces) Cammarano from the Class of January 1957. It was
wonderful to see your ad in the Newsday today (11/26/06). I too often
look to see if there is anything about a St. Ambrose reunion.

It was a walk down memory lane to visit the web site and it was
wonderful. I know I have class pictures and other pictures and as soon
as I locate them I will e-mail them to the site. The group pictures of
the nuns in the early booklet about St. Ambrose were all the nuns who
taught me throughout my eight years there. In fact one or two of the
class pictures had my younger sister Toni (Antonia) in them. Sadly she
passed away last December. It was great to see the pictures of her
class though, as she must have lost them.

I lived at 738 DeKalb Ave, right next to the school yard. I remember
Margaret Sanchez very well and her cousin Ray. Most of the names you
mentioned in your message I knew also. Fr. McLaughlin also married me.
I had kept in touch with him until he passed away. Hope to hear from
you Margaret.

Anyone that wishes to get in touch with me please e-mail me at
happyskier@optonline.net <mailto:happyskier@optonline.net> . I would be
very happy to hear from anyone that I knew during those years,
especially my classmates.

Fran (Cammarano) O'Connor

Thanks a million for hosting a reunion of St. Ambrose. My names is Margaret Sanchez and I graduated from St. Ambrose in '56. I always check the paper for reunions and was thrilled to read this today. You printed my 6th grade picture (which I still have) and it brought back many memories. I would love to know if you hear from any graduates fromt he above classes. I thought of looking in the phone books recently just to see if any names would be listed. These are a few names from the above grade levels:

John McCormick
Arthur Rae (left St. Ambrose shortly after 6th grade)
Vinnie Messina & his best friend Frank (last name skips me)
Agnes Brod
Dorothy Isaacs
Carmen Thomas
Barbara Barnes
George Capone
Tommy Buonomo
Anthony Bianco

I have to look at my yearbook. PS Father McLaughlin married me and christened my youngest child.

I'd love to hear from you.
